Civil and Electrical Work for Installation of New Lifts

We recently completed a comprehensive civil and electrical project for the installation of new lifts, adhering to stringent safety and quality standards as per OTIS specifications. Below are the highlights of the work carried out:

Civil Work

1. Structural Modifications and Repairs

   • Removal and dismantling of bolts, steel bars, and repair of the lift shaft with cement mortar plaster/concrete to ensure a smooth and even surface.
   • Sealing old lift cut-outs in RCC slabs/machine rooms and creating new cut-outs as per OTIS-approved drawings.

2. Foundation Construction

   • RCC foundations for lift motors and spring buffers constructed with M25-grade concrete, reinforced with 12 mm bars and 8 mm stirrups, ensuring precision and durability as per OTIS specifications.

3. Demolition and Refurbishments

   • Demolished old machine and buffer block foundations in the lift pits and machine room.
   • Scrapped and refinished surfaces inside lift shafts and machine rooms with cement plaster, whitewash, and enamel painting.

4. Additional Installations

   • Installed a hoistway beam in the machine room using Hilti chemical fasteners and other materials as per OTIS-approved designs.
   • Provided machine room window sheds, repaired/replaced window glass, and ensured waterproofing in pits.
   • Adjusted sill angles and lift door sizes to meet new layout requirements.

5. Scaffolding and Safety Measures

   • Provided scaffolding to facilitate safe execution of civil and electrical works.

Electrical Work

1. Lift Shaft and Machine Room Enhancements

   • Installed two-way switches for shaft lighting on the last and topmost landings.
   • Serviced, greased, and painted existing exhaust fans with louvers in the machine room.

2. Electrical Infrastructure Upgrades

   • Provided two independent dedicated earth pits per block, connected to the existing earth strips.
   • Installed ELCBs for lighting circuits in the machine room and LED light fixtures with switches at alternate levels and in the shaft pit.

• Delivered a high-quality, robust infrastructure to support OTIS lifts, ensuring safety, functionality, and compliance with all technical requirements.
• Maintained clear communication and coordination with OTIS engineers and society representatives throughout the project to meet exact specifications.
